Custom Uniforms for Banks, Utilities and Schools: What Institutional Buyers Should Know

Uniforms are worn every day, often for years, and they represent the organization to customers and the public. For banks, utilities, schools and other institutions, a uniform program is a long-term commitment, so choosing the right manufacturer matters more than saving a few dollars per garment.

Fit Consistency Across Sizes and Teams

The biggest difference between uniforms and fashion apparel is consistency. A team of 500 people wearing the same style needs the fit to be dependable from size XS to 3XL, in every batch. Ask the factory how they grade patterns and whether they use on-site measurement or standardized sizing. Zuohan Clothing has served more than 10,000 organizations in finance, power, tobacco and education, and offers design, styling and on-site measurement services as part of uniform programs.

Durability for Daily Wear

Uniforms face constant washing, sitting, standing and movement. Fabric weight, seam construction and button and zipper quality decide whether a uniform still looks professional after a year. Ask about the fabric's intended care requirements and whether the factory can reinforce high-stress seams such as shoulders and pockets.

Compliance and Labeling for US Uniform Programs

If your uniforms will be sold or distributed in the US, they must meet US labeling rules: fiber content labeling under 16 CFR Part 303 and care labeling under 16 CFR Part 423, with flammability compliance for general apparel under 16 CFR Part 1610. For children's school uniforms, CPSC rules require a Children's Product Certificate and compliance with the lead and phthalate limits for children's products. Confirm with your manufacturer that they can provide the required documentation.

Delivery Reliability for Fixed Deadlines

Uniforms usually have a hard deadline: the start of the school year, the opening of a branch, or a seasonal change. Ask how the factory handles production scheduling, and whether they will share progress updates during bulk production. A factory with export experience can also handle the logistics, whether by sea, air or express.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many samples should we order before bulk production?

At least one fit sample per size range, plus a pre-production sample in the final fabric and colors. For very large teams, a wear test across a few sizes is worth the extra time.

Can uniforms include embroidered logos?

Yes. Embroidery is a standard service for uniform programs, and it is usually more durable than printed logos for garments that are washed frequently.

Do you provide on-site measurement?

For large institutional programs, Zuohan offers on-site measurement as part of the service, alongside design and styling support.

What documentation do we get with a uniform order?

Expect packing lists, size and color breakdowns, and compliance documents. Confirm the full document list in your contract.

Can uniforms be customized per department?

Yes, common variations include different colors, embroidery and trim per department while keeping the same base style, which also helps you manage MOQs.
